Jurisdictional Council reduces Petro and Académica’s sentence

Africa-Press – Angola. The Jurisdictional Council of the Angolan Football Federation (CJ) mitigated the penalties applied to Petro de Luanda and Académica do Lobito, with pecuniary fines.

Both were sentenced to pay a fine of 4,000 UCF (1 UCF is equivalent to 88 kz), against the previous decision of the Disciplinary Council (CD) that suspended them for two years from all tests.

The change in penalty is due to the recent appeal presented by the two teams, representing the country in the Afrotaças, at a time when they qualified for the group stage, respectively, of the Champions League and Confederation Cup.

The Jurisdictional Council, however, dismissed the appeals to annul the decision made by the CD, maintaining the 4-year suspension from all sporting activities and must pay a fine of 6,000 UCF to Agostinho Tramagal.

Likewise, Palanca’s Kabuscorp is relegated from division and must pay a fine of 80,000 UCF, while the club’s president, Bento Kangamba, is banned from all sporting activities for four years and a fine of 6,000 UCF.

Athletes Márcio Luvambo and Ito are only suspended for three games and a fine of 6,000 UCF each.

This case of alleged corruption began with the leak of an audio in which the coach of Académica do Lobito, Agostinho Tramagal, states that he had received amounts from Petro and Kabuscorp to falsify results at the end of the Girabola`2023-24 and Angola Cup, while the 1.o de Agosto tried the same, without success.

Subsequently, 1.o de Agosto had been fined a monetary amount, having been dismissed after complying with the decision of the FAF CD in good time.
