Africa-Press – Angola. The Lubango District Court suspended the trial of the former administrator of Humpata, Huíla province, on the instructions of the judge in the case, Anacleto Kambuta, this Friday, to “examine in depth” the illegal contract that the municipal administration signed with the company OVC, regarding the construction of two schools.
The decision comes as a result of a request from the defense of the defendant Paula Nassone, who asked the Court to request from the Municipal Administration of Humpata, the complete dossier of the contracts of the company OVC for the construction of the two schools, one at the municipal headquarters and the other in Taca, Palanca commune.
Due to some new elements brought by the witness Adalberto João Máquina, director of the Legal Office of the Humpata municipal administration, since 2016, when confronted with the testimonies of the witness Edvaldo Pires, former director of the Study and Planning Office, who brought to light the alleged practice of verbal contracting of services.
At issue is the construction of the two schools in the period from 2016 to 2018, to assess whether or not the execution of the works complied with public procurement standards.
The fourth trial session for the production of material evidence was marked by the hearing of all participants present, following the previous questions and the Public Prosecutor’s Office promoted the reading of their statements made in the pre-trial phase, a position that was corroborated by the defendants’ defense.
The trial resumes on Monday.
Paula Nassone is being accused of two crimes of influence peddling, five crimes of embezzlement, one crime of receiving an undue advantage, violation of plan and budget execution rules, in a process in which other defendants are listed.
