Africa-Press – Angola. The Permanent Committee of the National Assembly (AN) meets, this Friday, to consider the proposal to dismiss the President of the Republic, João Lourenço, formalized by the UNITA Parliamentary Group.
According to a note from Parliament, the meeting was called by the president of the body, Carolina Cerqueira, who says it was an imperative of the hemicycle’s Rules of Procedure.
The meeting, to which all deputies who are members of the Permanent Committee are summoned, will have as its agenda the “Information on the reception of the Proposal of the UNITA Parliamentary Group for the Removal of the President of the Republic”.
This Thursday, the UNITA Parliamentary Group delivered to Parliament the proposal to dismiss President João Lourenço, for alleged violations of the Constitution and interference in the legislative and judicial powers.
According to Liberty Chyiaka, it is up to the people, at the initiative of one third of their representatives and the approval of two thirds, in the National Assembly, to remove the President.
