Africa-Press – Angola. The comic book “Pirates in Territory
With 40 pages, the magazine portrays the story of a group of pirates who dock in an African territory, called “X”, with the aim of deceiving the people of that place and exploring the riches that the territory offers.
According to the author, it is a work of comic book fiction that describes the history of several African peoples who saw their territories being invaded and unduly exploited by European colonizers, over hundreds of years. .
“It is a fictional story, but it brings aspects of real stories of oppression that the African continent was a victim of, for several centuries, by invaders from other continents”, said the artist.
Airosa added that the work addresses the way of life of African people, with the aim of promoting the cultural identity of their respective people and the different ways in which they express themselves to the world.
Likewise, it addresses the valorization of the Giant Palanca Negra, as the country’s sacred animal, the empowerment of women, the preservation of the flora and fauna of the continent’s birthplace, among other issues.
For the artist, the invitation extended to him to participate in the exhibition symbolizes an important milestone in the internationalization of his career, a gesture of recognition for his work and a great contribution to the expansion of Angolan and African culture.
During the festival, the author will present the work, which initially has around 300 copies.
The 34th edition of the “Amadora BD” festival is dedicated to timeless classics that serve as inspiration for the general scenography. From the 19th to the 29th of this month, it brings together 25 iconic artists from Portuguese and foreign comics.
Created in 1990, Amadora BD is an initiative of the Amadora City Council, which aims to promote comics.
Organized annually since its creation, Amadora BD is the most important comics festival in Portugal and one of the most acclaimed at European level.
The annual program brings together authors, publishers, agents and collectors of different nationalities in autograph sessions, exhibitions, launches, workshops and presentations.
