Africa-Press – Angola. Angola has participated, since Friday (19), in the Council of Ministers of the Southern African Development Community (SADC), an event that takes place in Lilongwe, Malawi.

During two days, participants will analyze the degree of implementation of Council and Summit decisions, as well as learn about the situation of the Covid-19 pandemic in the region.

The meeting, in which Angola participates with a delegation headed by the Minister of Foreign Affairs, Téte António, is also addressing the definition of the Mechanism for Involvement of SADC Non-State Actors.

In a note released, the Angolan Ministry of Foreign Affairs informs that the session takes place in an “environment of deep understanding, where the parties recognize that SADC’s vision is that of a common future”.

The meeting brings together the organization’s Ministers of Foreign Affairs and Foreign Affairs, as well as Ambassadors Extraordinary and Plenipotentiary accredited in the 15 countries of the regional community. Senior Officials of the SADC Secretariat also participate.

SADC includes South Africa, Angola, Botswana, Comoros, Democratic Republic of Congo (DRC), Lesotho, Madagascar, Malawi, Mauritius, Mozambique, Namibia, Seychelles, eSwatini, Tanzania, Zambia and Zimbabwe.

Also yesterday, on the sidelines of the SADC Council of Ministers Meeting, the Minister of Foreign Affairs, Téte António, held courtesy meetings with government entities from Malawi, South Africa, Zimbabwe and the DRC.

At the Bingu wa Mutharika International Convention Center in Lilongwe, the head of Angolan diplomacy met in the early hours of the morning with the Minister of Foreign Affairs of Malawi and acting president of the SADC Council of Ministers, Nancy Tembo.

On the same day, Téte António also met with the Deputy Minister for International Relations and Cooperation of South Africa, Candith Mashego-Dlamini, and the Ministers of Foreign Affairs and International Trade of Zimbabwe, Frederick Shava, of Health Malawi, Khumbize Kandodo, and Didier Mazenga, Minister of Regional Integration and Francophonie of the Democratic Republic of Congo.

According to a statement from the Ministry, the courtesy meetings focused, at a bilateral level, in the context of strengthening friendship and cooperation and aligning positions to make the regional organization’s performance more robust. and cohesive.
