Inter revalidates the Francisco de Almeida Super Cup in handball

Africa-Press – Angola. Interclube revalidated, this Wednesday, in Luanda, the Supertaça Francisco de Almeida, in senior men’s handball, beating 1.o de Agosto, by 24-23, in a game played at the Cidadela pavilion, in Luanda.

At half-time, Inter trailed 10-13.

The challenge was completely balanced, with the “military” dominating the first 30 minutes, almost always maintaining a four-goal advantage.

In the second half, the dominance belonged to the “police”, more enlightened in defense and attack, with the contribution of the goalkeeper, protagonist of several saves in almost scored goal attempts.

Inter galvanized themselves and were effective in attack, maintaining an advantage of two or three goals, in a match that saw some draws (18-18, 19-19 and 20-20).

At the end and winning by a goal difference (24-23), the current champions of the competition missed an attack and in response the opposing striker shot with the ball hitting the crossbar, avoiding the draw and the consequent extra time.

A draw would be like a repeat of what happened in the National Championship, played in July, in Huambo, in which Inter won 23-22, in extra time, after a 19-goal draw in regular time.

The experienced goalkeeper, Geovani Muachissengue, who moved from 1.o de Agosto to Interclube, saw his debut postponed, due to a technical option.

Cláudio Xicola (Interclube) was the top scorer, with ten goals.

With this victory, the “police” bring the number of victories in the competition to eight, equaling the 1.o de Agosto.
