Africa-Press – Angola. The province of Luanda has, since yesterday, over 95 new public urban passenger transport, delivered yesterday by the Ministry of Transport to the Provincial Government, in an act that took place in Urbanização do Sequele, municipality of Cacuaco.

The 95 buses were delivered by the Transport Minister, Ricardo de Abreu, to the governor Ana Paula de Carvalho, after the signing of the protocol for transferring ownership and handing over the keys, signed by the director general of the National Institute of Road Transport, Énio Costa, and the local director of Transport, Traffic and Urban Mobility of Luanda, Amadeu Campos.

Of the total number of vehicles, 35 articulated vehicles, branded Scania, with a capacity for 101 seats each, should start circulating soon, under the responsibility of the operators TCUL, Ango Austral, Rosalina Express and Macon, companies awarded 15, 10 and five vehicles, respectively.

The large buses, which have a support system for people with reduced mobility, are an addition to the 45 that already circulate in the capital city.

The remaining 60 buses are conventional, branded Wolksvagem, have 59 seats, their circulation depends on contractual factors.

Luanda’s provincial director of Transport, Traffic and Urban Mobility said that, with the delivery of the means, the number of buses delivered by the Ministry to the Provincial Government rose to 584, which, in turn, celebrates adhesion contracts with the operators.

Still, Amadeu Campos said that the province needs more buses, noting that Luanda’s General Master Plan foresaw, in 2015, around 1,800 vehicles of this type, as a result of the city’s expansion and demographic growth.
