Africa-Press – Angola. At least 18 suspected cases of irregularities, in the field of financial management and public improbity, are in the preparatory investigation phase with the General Inspectorate of State Administration (IGAE) in Cuando Cubango.
These are criminal proceedings in the preparatory investigation phase, with emphasis on non-compliance with payment to suppliers of goods and services who used their own resources to cover some Public Administration expenses.
The information was provided this Wednesday, in Menongue, by the provincial delegate of IGAE, António Francisco Jaime, at the end of the visit to verify the current operation carried out by the governor, José Martins.
The IGAE provincial delegate lamented the fact that there is little culture of reporting by citizens who feel aggrieved, highlighting the importance of making cases of irregularities in the Public Administration known, so that managers and employees involved in actions of mismanagement of the treasury are held criminally liable.
For his part, the governor of the province of Cuando Cubango, José Martins, promised to deliver a property, at the beginning of 2024, where the IGAE offices will operate, taking into account that until now the institution operates in a space in the local government building .
The governor also said that IGAE’s success in combating corruption depends on the involvement of all citizens, as the drain on the treasury affects the population.
“The local government will provide the necessary support to the IGAE inspection teams, so that they can develop activities, not only in Menongue, but also in the eight municipalities of the province, so that public managers are committed to improving the provision of services to populations,” he said.
