When intervening in the provincial act commemorating the 48th anniversary of national independence, which is celebrated, the vice-governor highlighted the various achievements achieved by the Angolan people in the most varied areas, advocating, therefore, the preservation of public goods and social harmony.
“This date represents many years of victories and achievements. We had several achievements and we are certain that the country did not grow enough as we wanted. Therefore, we need to work harder, in order to bring independence in industrialization and in several other sectors, as it is our responsibility as members of the new generation”, he highlighted.
Under the motto “United for the development of Angola”, the act was preceded by the laying of a wreath on the bust of the first President of Angola, Agostinho Neto, in Largo 1° de Maio, and was witnessed by deputies to the National Assembly , members local government, representatives of political parties, religious entities and traditional authorities.
The proclamation of independence, on November 11, 1975, represented the culmination of a heroic National Liberation Struggle, which began on February 4, 1961, when patriots, imbued with common ideals, armed with machetes, confronted the colonial power, robbing prisons of Luanda to free Angolans imprisoned for defending self-determination.
