Africa-Press – Angola. On Tuesday morning, the Vice-President of the Republic, Bornito de Sousa, visited the construction and expansion works of the Candelabro Water Treatment Plant (Phase III), in the urban district of Quifangondo, in Cacuaco (Luanda) , whose physical execution is around 79 percent.

The visit of the Vice-President of the Republic to the ETA of Candelabro, is part of the celebration of March 22, World Water Day, which this year is celebrated under the motto “Groundwater: making the invisible visible”.

The infrastructure is also one of the most important works of the Executive led by the President of the Republic, João Lourenço, with the aim of reducing the deficit in the supply of water in the country’s capital.

The goal is to increase the nominal capacity of the Candelabro Station, from 120,000 m³/day to 210,000 m³/day, a situation that should mitigate and improve the conditions of access to water supply to the areas of influence, consequently increasing the time of water distribution .

It is also an activity foreseen in the annual plan of the National Water Council, a permanent consultative body of the Holder of the Executive Power, coordinated by the Vice-President, with the purpose of articulating the action of the ministerial departments related to planning, management and use of water resources.
