Africa-Press – Angola. Angola now has seventy-one judges, after the swearing in, this Friday, in Luanda, of eleven new magistrates for the Courts of Appeal of Luanda, Benguela and Lubango, informed the president of the Supreme Court, Joel Leonardo .

The President of the Supreme Court, who spoke during the inauguration ceremony of the new judges, stressed that after five years, the country had 60 judicial magistrates working on 1,399 cases.

He stressed that it is a time for actions and fewer words, a time for a lot of work in order to build results, through concrete actions.

He mentioned that the Council of the Judiciary was pleased with the fact that around 1,895 judicial employees had been promoted across the country, to different categories, “a fact that has not happened for decades”, he emphasized.

He called for the speed of the courts in family processes and not just in the application of sanctions, which are often severe or tense divorces, late evictions, atypical salary discounts and other less successful situations.

By way of example, Joel Leonardo clarified that guarantee judges received 13 thousand 925 cases across the country, of which they decided 13 thousand 740 and only 201 were pending.

He added that at the level of the Supreme Court there are venerable judges who present the trial conferences, more than 10 cases, for each session since the recent admissions, considerably reducing the pending cases.

“Therefore, if the appeals take less than three months in the courts of relation and in the supreme court, we will bring social peace and harmonious development of society and families”, he highlighted.
