Africa-Press – Angola. The country’s capital hosted, this Wednesday, the meeting of the National Coordinators of the International Conference of the Great Lakes Region (CIRGL), with the aim of discussing and analyzing the situation of contributions from member states.

The event, which took place in virtual format, took place at the headquarters of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs, under the guidance of the national coordinator for Angola and president of the national coordinators of CIRGL, Miguel Bembe.

The meeting is also analyzing the Report of the Executive Secretariat of the CIRGL and the Report on the next Retreat of National Coordinators concerning the Strategic Plan of May 2022.

This meeting’s main objective is to prepare the work agenda of the 17th Ordinary Session of the Regional Interministerial Committee (CRIM), taking place in virtual format this Thursday.

Multisectoral delegations from the different ministerial departments of the Angolan Government, such as National Defense and Veterans of the Homeland, Finance, Social Action, Family and Women Promotion, Mineral Resources, Oil and Gas, in addition to experts from the External Intelligence Service (SIE) participate in this event. ).

The Executive Secretary of the International Conference on the Great Lakes region, Angolan João Samuel Caholo, also participates in the meeting.

CIRGL members are Angola, Burundi, Central African Republic, Democratic Republic of Congo, Sudan, South Sudan, Tanzania, Rwanda, Uganda, Zambia, Kenya and Republic of Congo.

The International Conference on the Great Lakes Region is an intergovernmental organization of the countries of the Great Lakes Region of Africa, whose creation was based on the recognition that political instability and conflicts in these countries have a considerable regional dimension and require an concerted effort, both to promote peace and sustainable development.
