Africa-Press – Angola. The senior men’s national basketball team will compete in the pre-Olympic tournament, from the 2nd to the 7th of July 2024, in Valencia (Spain).
The draw, held on Monday night, in Mies (Switzerland), placed the Angolans fighting for a place with Spain, Bahamas, Finland, Lebanon and Poland.
According to the regulations, only the first placed team guarantees qualification to the French event “Paris’ 2024.
The national team is looking for its sixth appearance at the Olympic Games. After the debut in 1992 (Barcelona), editions followed in 1996 (Atlanta), 2000 (Sydney), 2004 (Athens) and 2008 (Beijing).
The Angolans have not been present at the Olympic Games since 2008 in Beijing, where they competed in the first phase in group B with teams from the USA, Spain, Greece, Germany and China.
The teams from France, Canada, USA, China Australia, Germany, Japan, Serbia and Sudan have already qualified for the Paris Olympic Games.
