Africa-Press – Angola. The Angolan ambassador to Ethiopia, Miguel César Domingos Bembe, highlighted, on Tuesday, in Addis Ababa, the fact that the Angolan Government guarantees the maintenance of political stability and the normal functioning of the country’s institutions.

Miguel Bembe, who was speaking at the seminar on “Foreign Investment Opportunities in Angola”, an initiative included in the activities commemorating the 48th anniversary of National Independence, said, for example, that the Executive has promoted the simplification of administrative procedures, the strengthening of judicial system and the training of human resources, taking into account their impact on the process of sustainable growth and investor confidence.

The permanent representative of Angola to the African Union (AU) and the United Nations Economic Commission for Africa (UNECA), also expressed his satisfaction in relation to the countless potential that the country offers to its citizens. He highlighted that Angola has a strategic location, a young, entrepreneurial and resilient population, an excellent internal market, tourism, water, maritime and mineral resources, arable land, renewable energy, as well as information and communication technologies.

Miguel Bembe added that the country is committed to implementing the process of economic diversification, through reforms in different sectors essential to creating a more attractive business environment, capable of boosting direct foreign investment in different national sectors.

On the other hand, he highlighted that the country has intensified its investment in energy infrastructure and support for trade, construction and rehabilitation of roads, railways, airports and ports that aim to accelerate inter and intraregional, continental and international connections. , as well as improving the circulation of people and goods.

He referred, for example, to the Dr. António Agostinho Neto International Airport (AIAAN), which he considered to be an imposing infrastructure that the country has in terms of traffic in this area.

Economic diplomacy

During the event, the head of the Investment Promotion Department of the Private Investment and Export Promotion Agency of Angola (AIPEX), Bruno Baptista, highlighted that the Angolan Government is positioning itself for long-term sustainable development, based on principles of good governance, economic diplomacy and regional cooperation.

In this sense, the head of AIPEX highlighted that the country seeks to boost diversification and structural transformation at national level and in the economies of neighboring countries.

Bruno Baptista emphasized that Angola benefits from ongoing reforms and that the country is strategically well positioned to become a preferred gateway for investments in various areas, such as Agriculture, Industry, Transport and Tourism.

Ethiopian businessman Dawit Abrha spoke about his activity in Angola, where he invested around one million dollars in the construction of a clinic in the Morro Bento area, in Luanda, which is due to open soon.

The seminar, which was attended by representatives of business associations, commercial banks and businessmen from Ethiopia, staff from the AU and UNECA, members of the diplomatic corps accredited in Addis Ababa and representatives of the Angolan community, also had as speakers the head of the Investment Promotion Department of the Angolan Private Investment and Export Promotion Agency (AIPEX).
