Africa-Press – Angola. When speaking about the “Harms of Corruption”, Paulo de Carvalho mentioned that, due to current levels of corruption, the country is still far from combating the phenomenon, but assured that a lot has been done in terms of this process.
“We are still far away in the fight against corruption. Therefore, in this case, I wouldn’t say perfection, but at least what would be admissible, bearable and which, therefore, would allow the country to develop”, he said.
Regarding the consequences of corruption, Paulo de Carvalho said that the same causes discredit in the democratic system, allows the loss of trust in institutions and disincentives when it comes to work.
Urged to address the topic “Ethics and Corruption”, journalist and writer Ismael Mateus stressed that ethics cannot be dissociated from the fight against corruption, “since the two phenomena must be taken into account together ”.
Ismael Mateus also recognized that the image that people and communities have of the agents of this practice “requires us to start reflecting, because that is the origin of ethics”.
Sociologist Paulo de Carvalho and journalist Ismael Mateus admitted, yesterday, that there were advances in the fight against corruption in Angola, during their talk during the celebration of the 9th of December.
