José Luís Domingos ‘Zé Luís’ is the new president of the Angolan Bar Association (OAA) for the period 2024-2026, after having received the vote of confidence from 564 lawyers, out of a total of 2,400 voters who participated in the election election, which took place on Friday (15).
In addition to the new president, Nilton Praia was also elected as president of the Luanda Provincial Council of the OAA.
Along with Zé Luís (from list C), Vicente Pongolola (A), Henriqueta Sousa e Silva (B), José Carlos Miguel (D) and Sebastião Vinte e Cinco (E) competed for the top position in the OAA.
José Luís Domingos, aged 47, is a lawyer registered with the OAA, with registration no. 9685, since 2009. He graduated in Law from the Faculty of Law of the Catholic University of Angola (UCAN), in 2005, with postgraduate merit under contract by the Faculty of Law of the Catholic University of Lisbon (2O06).
He also has a master’s degree in Private Law from the Faculty of Law of the Catholic University of Lisbon, completed with distinction (2009), a doctorate in Law from the Faculty of Law of the Catholic University of Lisbon and a professor at the Faculty of Law of UCAN since 2004.
Among the functions currently performed, José Luís Domingos is director of the Center for Research in Law (CID) at UCAN and member of the Research Center for the Future of Law at the Catholic University of Lisbon.
