Africa-Press – Angola. The Lubango Court of Appeal, which is responsible for the provinces of Huíla, Namibe, Cunene and Cuando Cubango, has filled its list of judges, with four more judges taking office since Tuesday, now totaling 17.

These are Baptista Ngundjo, Alberto Tibério, Lúcia Santiago and José Domingos, previously judges of first instance.

Speaking at the swearing-in ceremony of the magistrates, the judge-advisor of the Supreme Court and member of the judicial judiciary, Carlos Alberto Cavuquila, said that they are professionals with a long career and considers them an asset to the Lubango Court of Appeal.

He highlighted that the objective is to permanently improve interaction and exchange of experiences on current and active topics, as this is always necessary for the best results expected from the work of this class.

“I hope that magistrates know how to collaborate regularly and permanently so that the Lubango Court of Appeal fulfills its social function”, he said.

In turn, the presiding judge of the Lubango Court of Appeal, Armando do Amaral Gourgel, highlighted that today they receive with “enormous satisfaction” four new embargo judges who were missing.

For the person responsible, the appointment of staff to this new jurisdiction presupposes a turning of the page, a change in professional life and beyond, urging them to work with zeal and dedication in the new missions.

“The professional life of this Court is characterized by a climate of peace, interaction and mutual assistance, an added value, which is why we wish you the best possible performance in your new roles”, he emphasized.

The Lubango Court of Appeal was the first in this segment to be inaugurated in the country in October 2020, as part of the celebrations of 45 years of National Independence, while law provided, firstly, for the inauguration of the Courts of Appeal of Luanda and Benguela.

The Lubango Court of Appeal is part of Judicial Region VI, based in the main municipality of the province of Huíla, with jurisdiction extended to the Judicial Provinces of Cuando Cubango, Cunene, Huíla and Namibe.

Judicial Province of Huíla, with headquarters in Lubango, includes the districts of Lubango, Caconda, Matala and Quilengues.

The District of Lubango has jurisdiction over the municipalities of Chibia, Gambos, Humpata and Lubango, while the District of Caconda covers the municipalities of Caconda, Caluquembe, Chicomba and Chipindo.

The District of Matala, the districts of Cuvango, Jamba, Matala and Quipungo and the District of Quilengues have jurisdiction over the municipalities of Cacula and Quilengues.
