Africa-Press – Angola. The municipality of Cazenga, in Luanda, already has available the 25 million Kwanzas per year from the Municipal Budget for 2022, which will be applied in several projects elected by the commissions of residents in the communities.

The idea of financing the projects is to have an increasingly participatory and democratic management in the active life of the community, as well as to decentralize a set of tasks that were exclusively of local administrations.
Speaking to ANGOP, a source from the administration of Cazenga said that the amounts were made available in the second half of this month so that the residents’ committees can be boosted with financial resources and carry out small urgent actions in the communities.

The projects, according to the source, are related to public lighting, basic sanitation, technical-professional training for young people, community kitchens and other actions that the residents’ committees can carry out on a daily basis, but which in the past, due to insufficient of financial resources, its implementation was “tied”.

According to the source, the financial provision by the Executive started in 2021 and is here to stay, as it is an opportunity to strengthen the residents’ committees to carry out small local development actions, based on the active participation of citizens.

The coordinator of the Cazenga Municipalities’ Budget Management Committee, Gonçalo Neto, said that the district has 18 projects for 2021, of which 75 percent are completed and 25 percent are in progress.

He added that the completed projects include public lighting, basic sanitation, arts and crafts, and the construction of drinking water tanks and public bathrooms to be concluded, as they are part of a continuity budget.

Gonçalo Neto said that once completed, the projects will benefit the Grafanil neighborhood, which has had great difficulties with drinking water for several years.
