Africa-Press – Angola. The King of Lunda Cokwe, Mwatxissengue Wa Tembo “Lukhassa João”, defended this Thursday, in the city of Saurimo, the need for a national carnival parade, to publicize the habits and customs of the people that make up Angola.
The aforementioned parade must bring together the best carnival groups from each province and be held on a rotating basis, with priority for the country’s capital.
In addition to publicizing the habits and customs of the people, the aim is to promote a festival worthy of Angolans.
Speaking as part of the preparation for the 2024 edition of carnival, the king suggested that the winners of the provincial editions progress to class A, a competition for the best, capable of providing the rescue, in fact, of the cultural identity of the people.
For him, this aim will contribute to changing paradigms that influence the coexistence of people.
He recommended the creation of schools to train young people in dancing, making musical instruments and singing.
Along these lines, he called on young people to preserve traditional dances, including txianda, mucopo, xissela and ulengo, candoa, muhango, txicaba, muia, among others.
