Africa-Press – Angola. The Carreira de Tiro, Campo da Viação, Cangambo, Camoma and Caxito neighborhoods, on the outskirts of the city of Malanje, have been deprived of the supply of drinking water since last Friday (5), due to the rupture of a 450 millimeter pipe.
The rupture, which occurred in the Carreira de Tiro neighborhood, resulted from the wear of the material and pressure on the pipeline, as confirmed Monday the administrator for the technical area of the Malanje Water and Sanitation Company (EASM), André Pity.
The official said that locally there is a shortage of damaged material, but contacts have already been established with companies in other provinces to purchase the material, ensuring that technicians are working to clean the affected area.
He made it known that since the incident, around two thousand 266 families in the affected neighborhoods have benefited from drinking water through tanker trucks.
On the other hand, the person responsible reiterated the appeal to debtor customers to settle their debts, currently set at 100 million kwanzas, highlighting that non-payment makes it impossible to guarantee quick answers to certain questions, with emphasis on the purchase of spare parts.
Meanwhile, André Piedade announced that six thousand new connections will be completed next April, out of a total of 12 thousand included within the scope of a project financed by the World Bank.
The Malanje Water and Sanitation Company has 14 thousand customers, 10 thousand of whom are active and four thousand are inactive, due to debts.
