Africa-Press – Angola. The province of Zaire will have more public prosecutors to meet procedural demands, announced this Tuesday in Mbanza Kongo, the Attorney General of the Republic, Hélder Pitta Groz.

Speaking to the press, at the end of his two-day visit to Zaire, Pitta Groz promised to recruit more technicians and public magistrates for the proper functioning of the institution in the region.

Data from the PGR in Zaire, indicate that the region currently has 19 Public Prosecutor’s Office magistrates, 11 in Mbanza Kongo, seven in the municipality of Soyo and one in Nzeto.

He also reaffirmed the improvement of working and social conditions for magistrates, regarding accommodation, including in terms of personal security.

Referring to some releases made in recent days in the province, involving, above all, former public managers, accused of embezzlement crimes, Pitta Groz admitted that there had been possible errors in procedural interpretation.

He therefore called on the bodies involved in the administration of justice to always base their actions on the basis of the law, in order to avoid public challenges to judicial decisions.

“We leave what has already been done. Our attention and focus must always be on complying with what is stipulated by law. If we do this, we will have peaceful work without social protests”, he assured.

Regarding the phenomenon of overcrowding in the two local prisons, at NKiende, in Mbanza Kongo, at Mangue Grande (Soyo), he promised to work together with the Ministry of the Interior, aiming to build another prison establishment in the region to mitigate the situation.

He said that during his 48-hour visit to Zaire he held working meetings with different bodies involved in the administration of justice, where possible solutions to various problems were discussed.

During their stay in Zaire, the delegation visited two local border posts with the Democratic Republic of Congo (DRC), in the municipality of Mbanza Kongo, where they learned about the mechanisms used by fuel smugglers into the country neighbor.
