Africa-Press – Angola. The Minister of Telecommunications, Information Technologies and Social Communication, Mário Oliveira, assured, this Friday, that the new Journalist Training Center (CEFOJOR) in Huambo will serve the entire country and improve the quality of professionals in the sector.
“All professionals in the country and candidates for media professionals will, in this space, have the opportunity to improve their professional quality and beyond”, said the minister to the press, after the inauguration of the center, by the President of the Republic, João Lorenzo.
He made it known that the infrastructure, despite being located in the province of Huambo, will serve the entire country and will bring many benefits to media professionals.
The minister emphasized that, in this center, like the one in Luanda, he will offer courses to support social communication, for whom a good writing team must have a good secretariat and mastery of computer tools.
“We will have here at the center not only courses strictly linked to social communication, but also support courses.
Therefore, the class and the country are to be congratulated and our youth will have, here, the opportunity to improve their quality and, with this, journalism will gain a lot and, by winning journalism, the country, the economy and society will win “, he expressed.
Honorable Mentions
The President of the Republic, João Lourenço, presented two honorable mentions to the family members of professor Gabriela Antunes and Journalist, Joaquim Neves, who have stood out in the media sector over the years.
Joaquim Neves, appointed provincial delegate of Press in Huambo in 1984, also held the position of provincial director of Social Communication, between 2007 and 2010.
He stood out in the coverage of the liberation of the city of Huambo, in the 90s.
On the other hand, Gabriela Antunes, born in Huambo, stood out for the role she played in Angolan journalism, especially in the training and development of several professionals, as a teacher.
For a long period, he coordinated and taught the secondary journalism course at the Karl Marx-Makarenko Institute, which would later give way to the secondary institutes of Economics (IMEL) and Industrial (IMIL) in Luanda.
She is often referred to for the disciplinary way in which, over many years, she knew how to train her students. As if it were a special status, many people emphasize the fact that they were students of Gabriela Antunes.
Bruna Barros, granddaughter of professor Gabriela Antunes, and Azulai Neves, son of journalist Joaquim Neves, received their respective honorable mentions from the Head of State.
“There are no words to express what we feel today”, said Bruna Barros, who thanked the Executive for all its efforts to perpetuate the legacy of her grandmother, Gabriela Antunes, over the years.
An identical feeling was expressed by the son of journalist Joaquim Neves, thanking the Government for remembering his father’s achievements as a journalism professional.
