Africa-Press – Angola. The more than 80 thousand beneficiaries of the Social and Monetary Transfer Program (Kwenda) in the municipalities of Cacula and Humpata, Huíla province, complain of difficulties in selling the food products they cultivated with State support, due to lack of carriage.

In these northern and western regions of Lubango, the beneficiaries highlighted that they have produced sufficient quantities of corn, massango and massambala, as well as tubers and vegetables, but the harvest is under constant threat due to lack of transport, aggravated by poor condition of access roads.

One of the beneficiaries, Paulina Jelemba, stated that the fruit of Kwenda produced more than 20 tons of corn, on five hectares, but was unable to take it to the market due to lack of transport.

Another beneficiary of Kwenda, Manuel Maculusso, who is also experiencing the same difficulty, asked the Government of the province of Huíla to increase investments in the locality, especially in roads, to prevent production from being ruined.

Beatriz Tchúlo, who produces sweet potatoes and reindeer in the municipality of Humpata, stated that her farm is 15 kilometers from the headquarters and sometimes she has to use so-called three-wheeled motorbikes to transport her production and it has not been a task. easy, depending on the quantity that is collected quarterly, due to the low transport capacity.

On the occasion, he asked the municipal administration to rehabilitate the communication routes, with the aim of favoring flow, so that food can reach the marketing areas without any problems.

In turn, the regional coordinator for productive inclusion at the Institute for Local Development – FAS, Custódio Satiaca, stated that a process of cooperation is underway with transport operators, aiming to help the target group to sell their products.

“Everything indicates that, soon, we will have a positive response with the same operators and, only then will we be able to start the registration process for this purpose”, – he said.

The Integrated Municipal Intervention Plan (PIIM) for this year, provides for Cacula and Humpata, intervention on secondary and tertiary roads, in the most critical locations.

Kwenda is an Angolan Executive program that aims to support families in situations of poverty or vulnerability in the country. It is valued at 420 million US dollars, 320 million US dollars from the World Bank (WB) and 100 million from the National Treasury.
