Africa-Press – Angola. The General Inspectorate of State Administration (IGAE) delivered, on Monday, three vehicles (two ambulances and a van) to the Provincial Health Office in Lunda-Norte, recovered from those responsible and employees of the institution (Health).
The means are part of a batch of 25 vehicles recovered by IGAE during a micro-operation carried out by IGAE in August 2023, allegedly misappropriated by managers of several public institutions.
Of the 25 vehicles recovered, 17 belong to the Office, with emphasis on six ambulances, one of which has advanced support, including an incubator and intensive care equipment.
The handover was carried out by the IGAE provincial delegate in Lunda-Norte, Avelino Canjongo, highlighting that those involved have already been notified to be heard, with a view to providing due clarification.
He called on managers to strictly comply with the rules for managing the resources acquired by the State, and to behave with dignity when it comes to public affairs, and must protect the State’s assets.
On the other hand, he reported that 38 cases involving former public managers and employees were sent to the PGR to be sent to court.
He said that most of the processes are linked to irregularities committed by employees in the performance of their duties and others due to poor management of the treasury, including former managers of municipal administrations.
He made it known that the Education, Health and Public Security sectors, especially those related to the National Police, were the most reported by citizens because some officials were involved in acts of corruption and poor service to the public.
The inspector said that in 2023, 140 cases were investigated, resulting in four arrests, of which two are awaiting trial, as a result of complaints made by citizens and the inspection work carried out in several public institutions.
According to Avelino Canjengo, the processes that have not yet been transferred to the PGR are in the investigation phase for the collection of evidence and are of an economic nature.
This year, IGAE in Lunda-Norte will increase inspection actions and continue to work on raising public managers’ awareness of compliance with the law, as well as working on the registration of heritage assets by public managers, so that they are not appropriate.
