Africa-Press – Angola. The Minister of Defense and Veterans of the Nation, João Ernesto dos Santos, presided this Sunday, in Sumbe, Cuanza-Sul province, at the central event of the 4th of February, where he defended the eradication of corruption with a view to development and growth social status of the country.
For the governor, “this is the time to work to eradicate illicit acts that hinder development”, highlighting that the Executive is working hard to improve the social conditions of the population.
He stressed that in addition to diversifying the economy and attracting national and foreign private investment, the Government is combating corruption, nepotism and favoritism.
He highlighted that the Angolan Executive, to guarantee the growth and development of Angola, has invested in development factors and has spared no effort to mitigate social differences and offer Angolans better living conditions.
The minister made an inquiry into the South African invasion, the battle of Ebo, under the leadership of the Armed Forces for the Liberation of Angola (FAPLA) with the Revolutionary Armed Forces of Cuba, to achieve national independence.
For his part, the governor of Cuanza-Sul, Job Capapinha, said that Angola celebrates a historic moment with the aim of preserving the values of the country and honoring its heroes to galvanize the new generation of Angolans, increasing patriotic attitudes.
To value, he recalled, and recognize the contribution of these valiant fighters for freedom and independence, the Angolan Executive has carried out a set of actions and initiatives in the fields of social assistance and economic reintegration, with the aim of improving the living conditions of these heroes and their families.
He highlighted that the Government of the province of Cuanza-Sul has invested in the delivery of agricultural inputs to these families, highlighting that within the scope of a presidential initiative, 36 tractors were delivered in 2023 to 31 agricultural cooperatives, creating 467 opportunities for the reintegration of former military.
Angola celebrates this Sunday, February 4th, 63 years since the beginning of the Armed Struggle for National Liberation, under the motto “Preserving the values of the Fatherland, let us honor our heroes”.
