Africa-Press – Angola. The Angolan ambassador to Cuba, Cândida Teixeira, received this Wednesday, in Havana, her Guatemalan counterpart, Luís Corranza, with whom she discussed the strengthening of relations between the two countries, in the most varied sectors.

According to a press release, the meeting also served for the two entities to exchange views on international politics, especially Angola’s role in pacifying conflicts in Africa.

Diplomatic relations between Angola and Guatemala were formally established on September 22, 2023, during the High Level week of the 78th session of the United Nations General Assembly, in New York.

The Minister of Foreign Affairs, Téte António and the Minister of Foreign Affairs of Guatemala, Mário Búcaro, signed the document that formalizes the political dialogue that allows the beginning of a relationship of friendship and cooperation.

Guatemala is a country in Central America, with more than 18 million inhabitants, bordering Mexico to the south, and its economy is one of the largest in the region, based predominantly on agriculture.

A quarter of its gross domestic product, two-thirds of its exports and half of the country’s workforce comes from the countryside.
