Africa-Press – Angola. The permanent representative to the African Union (AU), Miguel Bembe, paid tribute this Thursday, in Addis Ababa, to President Hage Geingob, of Namibia, who died on Sunday due to illness, at the age of 82.
In a message written in the book of condolences opened on the premises of the Namibian Diplomatic Mission, the Angolan diplomat expressed to his family and the Namibian people his deepest feelings of solidarity and regret for the irreparable loss.
“President Geingob will be remembered by us, in Angola and in Africa, as a true statesman and an important Africanist, who dedicated his entire life to Namibia and the African continent”, he highlighted.
The Angolan ambassador to Ethiopia added that the deceased distinguished himself as a beacon of freedom, stability, unity and cohesion, having played a crucial role in the fight against apartheid.
Likewise, it distinguished itself in strengthening cooperative relations with Angola, firmly guided by the values of democracy and pan-Africanism.
The President of Namibia, Hage Geingob, passed away this Sunday in a hospital in Windhoek, where he was receiving medical treatment.
