Africa-Press – Angola. Eleven social projects, of the 14 ongoing in the municipality of Léua, Moxico province, were completed as part of the implementation of the Integrated Municipal Intervention Plan (PIIM).

In the municipality, which is 62 kilometers east of the city of Luena (capital of Moxico), the highlight is the completion of two seven-room schools, three health units and the rehabilitation of the Liangongo communal administration, according to the local administrator, António Muquissi.

The range of completed projects also includes the laying of sidewalks at the municipal headquarters, 100 photovoltaic public lighting posts, the acquisition of a 500 Kva generator, as well as earthworks between the municipal headquarters and the commune of Liangongo, a route of 32 kilometers.

The municipal administrator said that the construction of a multipurpose pavilion in the district, the laying of sidewalks in the first batch, as well as the redefinition of the funds that were initially foreseen for the placement of reinforced concrete in the municipal headquarters are yet to be completed..

He pointed out the poor management of the companies that won the tender for the aforementioned projects as the reasons for the delay in the works. To this end, “the administration will meet with the contractors of these works, with an execution level of 94 and 78 percent, respectively, to its conclusion.

In the last four years, he said, PIIM created 134 permanent and temporary jobs, with the infrastructure and education sectors being the ones that employed the most.

The municipality of Léua was awarded 14 PIIM projects, with a budget of more than one billion, 916 million, 851 thousand kwanzas.

Léua, with 48 thousand 840 inhabitants, is one of the nine municipalities that make up the province of Moxico.
