Africa-Press – Angola. The ‘Informal Operation’, which took place during this month (February), in the municipality of Namacunde, province of Cunene, made it possible to detect 50 infractions regarding undeclared goods, omitted sales and taxpayers without licenses to carry out commercial activity.
Promoted by the 6th. Tax Region and Customs Tax Police, the campaign covered 95 commercial establishments in the border town of Santa Clara and in the headquarters of Namacunde, with the aim of combating and repressing goods tax evasion and promoting the levels of tax justice.
In a statement to the press, regarding the operation, the head of the Fiscal Services department of the aforementioned AGT Tax Region, Benjamim Dumba, said that this campaign is also making it possible to register taxpayers and their respective commercial establishments.
He also stated that the strategy also allows agents outside of control to be inserted into the system, increase revenue capture for the State, through the payment of taxes and combat unfair competition.
“We are sensitizing the agents in this border area with Namibia, in order to adhere to legality, and those who do not comply will apply the appropriate fines, which end up affecting the actions of the taxpayers themselves”, he stated.
To avoid situations like this, he advised traders to carry out their activities with duly organized licenses, as well as to declare their products with customs authorities.
Benjamim Dumba highlighted that estimates indicate that at least 30 percent of taxpayers declare their sales, while 70% choose to avoid tax and do not present invoices.
The 6th. Tax Region controls 17 thousand and 298 taxpayers with economic activities, of these nine thousand and 342 in Cunene and seven thousand and 956 in Cuando Cubango.
