Africa-Press – Angola. The secretary of the Evangelical Congregational Church in Angola (IECA) in Bié, Martinho Sonjamba Diogo, appealed to the need for women to increasingly engage in promoting a culture of peace and social harmony.

The pastor made this appeal when speaking, in the city of Cuito, on “Women’s Contribution to building peace”, during a lecture promoted on Thursday by the Provincial Committee of the Angolan Women’s Organization (OMA) of Bié, as part of the March Woman.

He highlighted that women, as generators of life, wives and caregivers of the home, must be the main builders of an environment of peace, through the education and mobilization of their members, the neighborhood and the community.

On the other hand, he advised this female layer to invest in academic and professional technical training.

In turn, the provincial secretary of OMA in Bié, Maria Moura, made it known that the event aimed to highlight the contribution of women in building peace in the country.

It also intended to reflect on the challenges they still face in society, regarding access to their rights and their participation in the process of political, social, economic and cultural development.

He also said that his organization will continue to encourage the Angolan Government to maintain its mission of training and empowering women in matters linked to the process of building and maintaining peace and promoting a culture of social harmony, based on values that guarantee broad and effective development for the country.

The lecture also included the participation of women from other social organizations.
