Africa-Press – Angola. The National Boxing Team leaves for Accra (Ghana) on Thursday taking into account the participation in the African Games, to be held from the 13th to the 23rd of this month, according to a note from the federation, this Friday, in Luanda.
The federative communication states that the group is in the province of Huambo in a pre-competitive stage and that it will return to the city of Luanda on Tuesday, where it will continue with its work until the day of the trip.
After attending the continental event, the group returns to the country on the 25th and returns to focus on the city of Huambo to maintain preparation taking into account the presence in the “Mandela Cup”, from the 15th to the 21st of April, in Durban (Africa southern).
The pre-selection, which officially began work on January 15, 2024, heads to Huambo after the athletes have competed in the annual Grupo Desportivo Interclube Tournament, commemorating the club’s anniversary, marked on February 28.
The national team is led by Jovanis Pimentel, of Cuban nationality, assisted by the Angolan, João da Conceição.
Of those selected, Adriano Kiano stands out, the only Angolan to win a fight in a World Championship, and Naftal Goma, who participated in the World Championship in May 2023, in Uzbekistan, and in the African Championship held in Cameroon, between July and August of the same year.
Miguel Kembo (51 Kg), Ernesto Gomes (57 Kg), Noel Conde (60 Kg), Naftal Goma (67Kg), Morais Orlando (71Kg), Nzuzi Tambo (75Kg) and Adriano Kiana (86Kg) complete the set of boxers for the double commitment.
