Africa-Press – Angola. The governor of the province of Cunene, Gerdina Didalelwa, defended this Tuesday, in Ondjiva, the need to prioritize public administration that is close to the populations within the communities.
Speaking at the inauguration of communal and deputy administrators, he explained the need to work within communities in order to have control over public actions and allow citizens to feel the existence of closer and more active governance.
He justified that basic services such as education and health are provided at community level, where many teachers and nurses are not present at work.
The governor admitted that it is not easy to work with communities, due to the province’s geographical characteristics and population dispersion.
For this reason, he encouraged the newly appointed to work with sacrifice in the functions for which they were appointed, within the patriotic spirit, compliance and respect for the laws.
He defended the need to improve aspects linked to territorial planning, with particular emphasis on the commune of Môngua, where there are disorderly constructions using precarious materials.
With the process of the new administrative political division being debated in the National Assembly, he added that some communes could be elevated to the category of municipality, a fact that requires the reservation of spaces to build new public infrastructures.
During the event, the communal administrator of Môngua and Deputy, Rosário Ndilipofina and Rosa Ndesipona, respectively, the administrator of the commune of Naulila, António Ngolofi, and the deputy communal administrator of Ondjiva, Azinaida Hihangakenua, were sworn in.
With a population of one million, 17 thousand and 491 inhabitants, the province of Cunene is administratively divided into six municipalities and 20 communes.
