Africa-Press – Angola. The Presidents of Angola, João Lourenço, and Namibia, Nangolo Mbumba, met this Monday, at the Presidential Palace, behind closed doors, where strengthening cooperation was the dominant topic.

The President of Namibia, Nangolo Mbumba, arrived in Luanda today, for a 48-hour working visit.

To the press, the Minister of Foreign Affairs, Téte António, informed that Nangolo Mbumba’s visit is part of the bilateral relations that exist between the two countries. This is the first official visit he has made outside his country since taking office.

Nangolo Mbumba was sworn in last month, in Windhoek, as President of the Republic of Namibia, following the death of President Hage Geingob.

The minister said it was a courtesy visit to the Angolan President, but, as it concerns the lives of two peoples and two countries, it ends up addressing common interests, with emphasis on the deepening of cooperation relations, which has already been the subject of a meeting in Luanda at various levels and will be more reserved for the bi-national commission.

He explained that the bi-national commission meets with the participation of two Heads of State to deal with all cooperation issues, both regional and international, and the date for holding the meeting, which should take place in Angola, is being studied.

He reinforced that cooperation relations with Namibia are the best and they intend for the trend to prevail.

He concluded by thanking the Namibian President for reiterating the fact that whoever is in charge of Namibia, the historical nature of relations and their symbolism will always remain a proven fact with today’s visit.

According to the work program, even President Nangolo Mbumba has scheduled a visit to the company Karam Indústria, located in the Viana Industrial Complex.

It is a manufacturing company that produces copper, aluminum, steel and PVC material, with emphasis on the production of low and medium voltage electrical cables, which have been exported to Namibia.

The Republics of Angola and Namibia cooperate in the sectors of Defense and Security, Transport, Energy and Water, Health, Petroleum, Tourism, Fisheries, Agriculture, Finance, Geology and Mining, among others, either bilaterally or within the framework of the Community Southern African Development Council (SADC).
