Africa-Press – Angola. Director Ariel de Bigaulta, author of the documentary “Canta Angola”, was honored on Sunday, in Luanda, as part of the first edition of the International Documentary Film Festival (DocLuanda).

Ariel de Bigaulta, who was not present, thanked the organizers of the event via video message, recounting some facts that occurred during the recordings with musicians Lourdes Van-Dúnem, Carlos Burity and brothers Moisés and José Kafala.

The documentary, produced in 2000, extols the strength of Afro-Lusophone artistic creation, following the path of Lusophony.

The artist has in her curriculum works in Brazil (Éclats Noirs di Samba 1987), “Afro Lisboa” (1996) and “Margem Atlântica” (2006), in addition to contributing to the dissemination of Lusophone music, especially from Angola and Cape Verde, in Europe.

In turn, the Angolan sound designer Jita Cerveira was also recognized in recognition of his career, being considered the Angolan technician with the greatest filmography and international career.

Jita Cerveira has worked with Ruy Duarte de Carvalho, António Olé, João Jardim, Carlos Henriques, among others. She was born in 1975 and was a member of TPA.

The International Documentary Film Festival (DOCLuanda) has been taking place since last Saturday and this Thursday, at Camões – Centro Cultural Português in Luanda.

Aimed at documentary and unpublished cinema in Angola, the event has a pedagogical background and will serve to encourage cultural exchange, establish a contemporary vision of the world and of Angola through cinema and its history, thus also contributing to the future. of the Angolan cinema scene.

This is an annual event, organized by Camões – Centro Cultural Português in partnership with Mukixe and Criacom.

The program, which began with the screening of the first film of the international competition, also includes a Book and DVD Fair and an exhibition “Angolan Cinema – Generations of Utopia”, as well as a round table on “Cinem in Angola”.

A masterclass “Telling Stories through Editing” and a concert by Banda Kosmik are also planned.
