Diplomat highlights potential of agribusiness in Angola

Africa-Press – Angola. Angola has the potential to become one of the main agribusiness countries in Africa, due to its fertile, rich soils and favorable natural conditions.

The statement was made in Helsinki, Finland, by the Permanent Representative of Angola to the United Nations, Francisco da Cruz.

The diplomat was speaking at the Second UN Forum of Least Developed Countries (LDCs), which takes place from the 4th to the 6th of this month, under the theme “Innovation for structural transformation in the LDCs.

He highlighted that the country was once a major producer and exporter of agricultural products, including coffee, cotton and bananas.

Further on, he made it known that exports of these goods practically ceased in the 90s, as a result of the internal conflict that ended in 2002, which led to the collapse of commercial agricultural production.
