Africa-Press – Angola. The National futsal team is in Group A of the 7th African Cup of Nations, along with its counterparts from Morocco (hosts), Ghana and Zambia.
These data result from the draw held on Thursday at the Mohamed VI Complex in Rabat, where eight (8) national teams were placed in two groups of four each for the event, to be played from the 8th to the 17th of April.
The tournament host and current African champion, Morocco, heads an interesting group made up of Angola, third placed in 2020, Ghana, runner-up in 1996, as well as Zambia, which returns to the tournament after losing the edition in 2020.
In Group B, Egypt, who fell short in the 2020 final, faces Libya, the 2008 champion, as well as Namibia and Mauritania, who are making their debut in continental finals.
Egypt is currently the most successful TotalEnergies CAF Futsal AFCON nation, with three titles, followed by current champions Morocco, which has two titles, while Libya will have its eye on the second, following its triumph in 2008, as hosts.
The top two in each group will advance to the semi-finals of the competition, which qualifies the top three for the World Championship, to be held in Uzbekistan between September 14th and October 6th this year.
Draw result:
GROUP A: Morocco (host), Angola, Ghana, Zambia
GROUP B: Egypt, Libya, Namibia, Mauritania
