Africa-Press – Angola. The president of the National Assembly (AN), Carolina Cerqueira, expressed, this Friday, thanks to all deputies, employees and parliamentary agents for their dedication and sense of mission in carrying out their duties.
In a statement, on the occasion of International Women’s Day, which takes place this Friday, Carolina Cerqueira hoped that women in parliament would always assume the responsibilities entrusted to them with pride and dedication, tempering their daily energies with resilience.
She urged women in the hemicycle to face all challenges with courage and determination, so that they can be valued through the recognition of merit and use new technologies to assert themselves as talented and a source of inspiration for other women, particularly younger ones.
It promised that the voices, hands and wills of the women of the “House of Democracy” will be the cornerstone in favor of building a more equitable and equal society for men and women.
“May we all build a prosperous, developed Angola together and may peace be a daily reality in the affections and words that should be used as bridges of love, union, solidarity and peaceful coexistence, despite the antagonisms that may divide us” , he expressed.
In 1975, March 8th was established as International Women’s Day by the United Nations. The date celebrates the many female achievements over the last few centuries, but it also serves as a warning about the gender problems that still persist around the world.
