Africa-Press – Angola. The Secretary of State for Energy, Arlindo Bota, considered this Friday, in Luanda, the country’s electrification plan, outlined by the Angolan Executive, as a key factor for the development of Angola, which has an electricity rate of around 43%.

The leader, who was speaking at the opening of the general deliberative council of the Sincato dos Trabalhadores de Energia Eléctrica, recognized that there is still a lot of work to be done by the sector to satisfy the needs of the population and develop the country.

He said that the electrification of the entire national territory will help promote the country’s development and mitigate crime.

For his part, the general secretary of the Sincato dos Trabalhadores de Energia Eléctrica, José Francisco, pointed out the lack of medical assistance, salary equity between companies in the sector and a decent salary as the main difficulties that the class faces.

“There are workers with salaries of around 40 thousand kwanzas, a value very close to the national minimum wage of around 32 thousand kwanzas”, he explained.

Given the current scenario, the union leader said that the class will continue to dialogue with the employer and defend workers’ rights, with a view to improving working conditions.

In the same vein, the spokesperson for that union, Fernando Júnior, said that today’s meeting served to outline strategies for union action to reinforce dialogue with the boss.

The Electricity Workers’ Union involves five companies, namely ENDE, PRODEL, RNT, HIDROCHICATO and ENCEL, with more than four thousand members registered.

57 union members participated in the event, including provincial secretaries and secretaries of union committees.
