Africa-Press – Angola. The media from several countries highlight the Angolan President’s three-day visit to the People’s Republic of China, focused on strengthening cooperation between the two States.

The visit highlights the meeting with the Chinese leader Xi Jinping, the Prime Minister, Li Qiang, and the President of Parliament, Zhao Leji.

Portal Observador, Minuto a Minuto and RTP de Portugal announced Xi Jinping’s meeting with João Lourenço, and his participation in the business forum, with the theme “Investment in Angola”.

The working meetings with Chinese businesspeople, who already operate in Angola or intend to do so in the future, and the last day of the visit to the province of Xandong, for contacts with productive sectors in the fields of textile industry, pharmaceuticals and agricultural activity, were also highlighted.

The German Deutche Welle (DW) emphasizes that the meeting between the two statesmen aims to identify new areas for strategic partnership outside the domain of oil.

For its part, the North American press, especially Voice of America (VOA), also highlights the meeting between Angolan and Chinese statesmen.

On the DW website, the participation of the Angolan President in the business forum, between Chinese and Angolan businesspeople, is also highlighted, highlighting investment in Angola at the center of the debates.

The Chinese News Agency, Xinhua, emphasizes that Angola is ready to work with China and boost economic development.

Relations between Angola and China date back to 1983 and reached their highest point in 2000 when the Asian giant began making loans to the country to rebuild infrastructure destroyed by the war and to boost the national economy.

Since 2007, Angola has been China’s largest trading partner in Africa, with a turnover that registered, in 2010 alone, a total of 24.8 billion US dollars.

In Angola, China operates in the most varied areas of the country’s economic and social life, with a strong presence in the areas of staff training, such as the construction and equipping of the Integrated Technological Training Center (CINFOTEC) and the Venâncio de Moura Diplomatic Academy and scholarships for young Angolans.
