Official Electoral Registration ends today

Africa-Press – Angola. The Official Electoral Registration ends today, after the process has been extended for seven days, so the authorities appeal to all citizens who have changed residence or who are 18 years of age for the first time to update their data.

In this regard, Fernando Manuel, national director of the Official Electoral Registry, told Rádio Luanda yesterday that anyone who is not included in the database will be left out of the party of democracy next August, warning that “there will certainly be no other extension” .

According to the official, what the Ministry of Territory Administration wants is for citizens to be able to vote, when the time comes, close to their areas of residence, but for that, he added, it is necessary for the people concerned to update their official data. .

Fernando Manuel said that the points of reference and easy identification, in situations of elections, are usually schools, police stations, homes for the elderly and universities, considering it important that citizens are registered to fulfill their civic duty in August.

The Official Electoral Registry is the registration of Angolan citizens of legal age, legally qualified to join the electoral roll and, therefore, vote in general elections. The unofficial nature of the Electoral Register implies the automatic transfer of information from the Civil Identification Database, of citizens holding an Identity Card, to the Database of senior citizens.

To carry out the Electoral Registration, the citizen must only present the Identity Card that attests to his Angolan nationality, even with expired validity, it is considered valid for the purpose inside or outside the country.
