Africa-Press – Angola. Angola recorded, from 2022 to 2023, an increase in users of the mobile telecommunications service from 15 to 26 million users, revealed this Friday, the Secretary of State for Telecommunications and Information Technologies, Pascoal Fernandes.

Speaking in Parliament, as part of the approval of the Draft Resolution for Angola’s adherence to the Smart Africa Alliance Manifesto, he explained that the increase was the result of investments by the Executive and the entry into the national market of another service operator. mobile.

In terms of the massification of the Internet service, the Secretary of State highlighted the implementation of projects such as Angola On-line, which has been implemented in urban centers.

​He added that, currently, there are around 130 Internet service points in the country, which have been of utmost importance, especially for young people.

The Secretary of State also highlighted the implementation of the Conect-Angola project, aimed at remote areas that have never had any telecommunications service.

In this regard, he made it known that there are communes, with a population of 20 thousand people, that use the Internet service via Angosat2.

He said there are projects in the pipeline to reinforce the widespread use of the Internet in the country, within the framework of investments in infrastructure and submarine cables.​
