Head of State returns to the country after Extraordinary SADC Summit

Africa-Press – Angola. The President of the Republic, João Lourenço, returned to the Angolan capital, Luanda, after participating, this Saturday, in the Extraordinary Summit of the Double Troika of the Southern African Development Community (SADC), which took place in the Zambian capital, Lusaka.

Upon arrival, the statesman received welcome greetings from the Vice-President of the Republic, Esperança da Costa.

The Angolan Head of State participated in the meeting as acting president of SADC, and the work was guided by his Zambian counterpart, Hakainde Hichilema, who also heads the organization’s Organization for Cooperation in the Areas of Politics, Defense and Security.

The high-level meeting appreciated, among other aspects, the latest developments of community forces in the provinces of Cabo Delgado, in northern Mozambique, and Kivo, in eastern DRC, where the regional organization highlighted SAMIDRC and SAMIMI, respectively.

Participating in the Extraordinary Summit of the SADC Double Troika were the presidents of the countries that constitute it (Zambia, Tanzania and Namibia), as well as Angola, DRC, Zimbabwe and Mozambique, representatives of the troop contributing countries for the SAMIDRC and SAMIM regional missions, ministers and senior officials from Member States.
