Africa-Press – Angola. The parish priest of the Catholic mission of Mpinda, municipality of Soyo, Jacinto Tchimbilica, appealed this Thursday to Angolans to continue cultivating and solidifying the ideals of peace, so that it lasts.

In his homily, in the thanksgiving service alluding to the Day of Peace and National Reconciliation, which is celebrated today, the prelate stated that the word peace, in itself, is abstract and without any meaning, without men and women qualified as peaceful who share and promote these ideals.

“Peace does not exist. Yes, there are men and women qualified as peaceful”, she noted, for whom peace must mean harmony and social well-being and not just the silence of weapons or the absence of armed conflict.

In turn, the municipal administrator of Soyo, José Mendes Belo, highlighted that progress is built in a climate of peace and stability, having praised the gains made in the district during the 22 years of effective peace in the country.

He highlighted the construction of the Soyo/Nzeto expressway, the projects for the Soyo Combined Cycle Power Plant, refinery, the processing of Angola-LNG liquefied gas, the use of non-associated natural gas, as well as the future fertilizer factory.

He expressed optimism that the municipality he leads will continue to grow in all aspects, with the efforts of the Angolan Executive.

The ecumenical service, which took place in the multipurpose pavilion of Colégio Manuel Dembi, located in the city center, was preceded by a laying of the wreath at the tomb of the first President of Angola, António Agostinho Neto, in the city center, carried out by the municipal administrator , José Mendes Belo.

It was attended by believers from Christian churches affiliated to the Council of Christian Churches in Angola (CICA), representatives of defense and public order forces, magistrates, traditional entities and representatives of political parties with parliamentary seats.

The event was animated by choirs from different religious backgrounds.
