The Ambassador of Angola to Nigeria, Benin and Niger, José Bamóquina Zau, described, on Thursday, in Cotonou, the 4th of April as a historic milestone that symbolizes the harmony and prosperity of Angolans, with the same political and historic than November 11th, national Independence Day.

Ambassador José Bamóquina Zau was speaking to the diplomatic corps accredited in the Republic of Benin, the Angolan community, former Beninese combatants who participated in the Angolan liberation struggle and academics, at the ceremony celebrating Peace Day.

The diplomat stressed that the Luena Peace Accords were an “internal solution between brothers” that proved to be very solid, safe and consensual, without any incidents between the soldiers then involved in the long armed conflict.

“We obtained our solution that relaunched the spirit of National Unity and celebration of this date under the motto: Together for the inclusive growth of the country”, maintained Bamóquina Zau.

On the occasion, the diplomat invited Beninese investors to explore the Angolan market, as the country offers security for any type of investment.

He highlighted the diplomatic relations between Angola and Benin as excellent, with the need to reinvigorate them with the update of the cooperation framework agreement between the two countries.

More than two dozen Angolans and their descendants live in Benin, who during the Peace Day celebration ceremony received their Consular Identity Cards.

The Government of Benin was represented at the Peace Day celebrations by the Secretary General of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs Franck Armel Afoukou, who reinforced the need to update the main legal instruments of Angola-Benin cooperation to relaunch the brotherhood between the two States, which dates back to the 1970s, with the participation of Beninese citizens in the struggle for liberation in Angola.

On the sidelines of the 4th of April activities, the Minister of Foreign Affairs of Benin, Oloushegun Bakary Adjadi, received Ambassador José Bamóquina Zau in audience, with whom he discussed issues of bilateral cooperation.
