Africa-Press – Angola. Two literary works about the lifestyle of the Ovimbundu People were presented, this Friday, to the reading public in the province of Huambo, with funding from the Technical Committee for Participatory Budget Management.

These are works published in 2023, entitled “Mar de Pensamentos” and “Point e Paragraphos nos Regaços de Noite”, which portray patriotic and cultural values ​​and the overcoming of social problems, through dialogue to maintain peace.

The work “Mar de Pensamentos”, written by the young academic Maurício Hossi, portrays, in poems, the personal experiences and overcoming of the residents of the city of Huambo, in the post-war period in search of human dignity in the communities.

With 84 pages, the book has a composition of 67 poems, which awaken the need to resolve social conflicts, without the use of physical force, to avoid violence and human aggression in communities.

While the work “Point and Paragraphs in the Regaços de Noite”, by the writer Fernando Manuel Goi, aims to contribute to the exaltation of the cultural values ​​of the African continent, the patriotic attitude of the population of the province of Huambo and praises the efforts of the Government, aimed at social development and economy of the region.

Writer Fernando Manuel Goi said that love for the Angolan homeland and cultural values ​​were the main reasons that led him to write this work of 60 poems spread over 74 pages.

On that occasion, 50 copies each were made available to the reading public in the province of Huambo.

When speaking at the event, the coordinator of the Technical Committee for Participatory Budget Management of the municipality of Huambo, Aderito Hucui, explained that the committee decided to provide this support to revitalize talents in the field of literary production.

He said it was necessary, despite having scarce resources, to invest in literary production to preserve local culture, through the publication of works to preserve the cultural values ​​of the Umbundu people.

He explained that the works are part of the project to support local initiatives, aimed at youth, sponsored by the Technical Committee for Management of the Participatory Budget of the Municipality of Huambo, with an estimated value of 700 thousand Kwanzas.

The Participatory Budget Management Technical Committee of the municipality of Huambo annually makes 25 million Kwanzas available to resolve specific social problems in communities, as well as to promote socioeconomic development and improve the population’s living conditions.

In this context, in 2023, 22 social projects were planned related to the repair of public lighting, construction of community rafts, drinking water boreholes, fountains, earthworks and public gardens whose execution of these programs could end in May this year in the municipality of Huambo.
