Africa-Press – Angola. The Ministry of Youth and Sports (MINJUD), the Angolan Football Federation (FAF) and the International Federation of Associated Football (FIFA) will soon sign a partnership agreement to boost the sport in the country.
The fact was announced this Tuesday by the responsible minister, Rui Falcão, after a closed-door hearing, granted to the FIFA Director for Africa, Gelson Fernandes, held at the ministry’s headquarters, in Luanda.
In the end, when speaking to the press, Rui Falcão did not give the exact date for the agreement between the three parties to come into effect, using the term briefly and then showing confidence in a short-term growth of football throughout the country and with bases solid.
“Fortunately, to our joy, the director was willing to listen and collaborate on the short-term projects we have,” he said.
Rui Falcão said that Angolan football has always had legs to walk and even with ups and downs, it has never stopped being played throughout the national territory.
He mentioned that the intention is to “move forward”, aligning actions with a view to carrying out much better work, including in the female sector.
For his part, FIFA representative, Gelson Fernandes, stated that later this year the organization he represents will make financial contributions to carry out development projects.
“The FAF is on the right path. It has done work to survey the modality and we are now going to follow the steps and put Angola in the top circles”, he stressed.
He added that major football projects do not progress without the Government taking notice and supporting them at various stages.
The delegation, which has been working in the country since Monday, paid a visit to the FAF headquarters and this Tuesday visited the Sequele training center, in Cacuaco.
The FIFA delegation also includes Christine Gama, coordinator of Development projects at the Regional Office for Eastern and Southern Africa
Also Silmara Sousa, Coordinator of the Regional Development Programs Division, Bruno Comicholi, Director of Governance Services for Association actions, Member and sports lawyers.
