Luanda City's defeat anticipates Carmona's qualification against Girabola

Africa-Press – Angola. With Luanda City’s defeat at Nzaji Futebol Clube’s home (3-0), this Sunday, Carmona Sport Clube do Uíge qualified, for the first time, for the First Division National Football Championship (Girabola2024/2025).

With 20 points, Carmona Sport Clube do Uíge has 11 more than Luanda City, who had the obligation to win the four games in arrears, to qualify for the next Girabola, if the Uíge team lost the last game missing.

However, as fate would have it, Carmona’s ascension to football’s biggest national championship took place on the national day of Angolan youth, April 14th, even while sitting on the “sofa”.

In 9 games played, Carmona Sport Clube do Uíge managed 6 wins, 2 draws and one defeat.

Carmona Sport Clube do Uíge, founded in June 2021, is the seventh club from Uíge to be present at Girabola, after the historic Futebol Clube do Uíge, Construtores do Uíge and Fabril do Uíge were already there in the 1980s. União Sport Clube do Uíge, in the 2014 season, Santa Rita in 2017 and ASK Dragão in 2022.

This becomes the second greatest feat achieved by the young coach, Almério Cristóvão “Bony”, after having achieved the same feat with ASK Dragão, in 2022.

In the tenth and final round of the qualifying zone for the next Girabola, Carmona Sport Clube do Uíge will go to the province of Cabinda to face Guicoss.
