Africa-Press – Angola. The African senior men’s national futsal team (runners-up) returned to the country today, Wednesday, after participating in the seventh edition of the African Cup of Nations, which ended on Sunday, in Morocco.
At the 4 de Fevereiro international airport, the national “five” was received by the Secretary of State for Sports Teresa Ulundo, officials from the Angolan Futsal Federation and the athletes’ families.
The delegation will be received today at 3 pm at the Galeria dos Desportros, by minister Rui Falcão.
Due to the unprecedented qualification, Angola is qualified for the World Championship to be held in Uzbekistan, from 14 September to 6 October this year, as are champions Morocco and Libya (third place).
In the competition, the Angolans lost in their debut, 3-7, against the host team, beat Zambia (8 -5), new triumphs of (11-3) against Ghana, with Egypt (7-3), which guaranteed qualification for the final.
This was the fourth participation in an African Cup of Nations, after the debut in 2008, in (Libya-2016), South Africa (2020) and Morocco (2022), the latter occupied third position.
In this edition, remember, Angola lost in the final to the similar Morocco, by 1-5.
