Africa-Press – Angola. The volume of trade between the republics of Angola and China reached, in 2023, twenty-three (23) billion US dollars, the Chinese ambassador, Zhang Bin, reported this Tuesday in Luanda.
The diplomat, who was speaking to the press at the end of the meeting with the Vice-President of the Republic, Esperança da Costa, pointed out that Chinese investment in Angola reached two billion US dollars as a result of existing commercial relations and exchanges.
Zhang Bin also highlighted that there are many Chinese companies interested in investing in Angola and the embassy will help to realize these interests.
The diplomat stressed that, during the meeting, they reviewed the materialization of the consensus reached during President João Lourenço’s state visit to the People’s Republic of China.
On the occasion, he said that the Vice-President, Esperança da Costa, values the good relations between the two countries and expressed interest in strengthening cooperation and exchange relations.
For this reason, he reaffirmed his commitment to “accelerate the promotion of these economic relations”, with emphasis on the implementation of major strategic projects such as the hydroelectric development of Caculo Cabaça and Porto Novo de Caio (Cabinda).
The two States have a long history of cooperation, which is based on different areas, such as oil, health, infrastructure, staff training, among others.
Angola and China are strategic partners, with political, diplomatic and cooperation relations that have seen a notable increase since 2000, enabling the signing of several legal instruments in the social, commercial and business domains.
