Africa-Press – Angola. The Attorney General of the Republic, Hélder Pitta Gróz, highlighted, this Thursday, in Luanda, the work carried out by guarantee judges, as well as their rapid adoption of a work model that was previously unknown to them.
Pitta Gróz was speaking at the celebration of these professionals’ first year in office, noting that it was necessary to carry out this task, its application and dissemination.
He said that this commitment meant meeting deadlines and making the serious measures imposed on the defendants compatible with the defense of the rights of each citizen.
Hence, he stated that, based on the experience of carrying out the activities of the Public Prosecutor’s Office, it is essential to make the justice services credible, combat the feeling of impunity and restore confidence to the citizen.
The judge also stated that the various contexts in which common courts operate throughout the country brought different experiences, realities and challenges to the practical actions of guarantee judges, judging by the necessary and permanent coordination of other operators of the justice system.
On the other hand, he admitted that it was necessary to have the wisdom, coherence and humility to recognize some difficulties, embarrassments and mistakes made throughout the year.
Accordingly, he called on the Supreme Court to promote training aimed at all those involved in judicial processes to improve work, as well as the creation of working means and conditions, in order to overcome certain situations.
“We need deep reflection on the part of judges about the model they should adopt regarding the creation of their own rooms in courts or with criminal police bodies”, he warned.
Pitta Gróz said that this issue should be properly defined, so that they can best meet the needs of the guarantee judge’s duties.
